Alex and the 14-year-old mare had been spectacular when ending third at this 12 months’s Badminton Horse Trials, and final week they gave a polished efficiency in Hickstead’s International Arena to complete first place on 122.70 seconds.
This month the Agria Royal International Horse Show ran from 24-28 July, with Alex being victorious on the second day of the competitors.
The 2023 champion Fred Scala was drawn final to race, and he did his greatest to catch Alexander’s time with the speedy chestnut mare, Corriebag Supernova.
Although Fred’s time was considerably faster, an early fence plus two late poles down meant 12 seconds was added to his time, so he needed to accept a runner-up place.

Alex is a certified farrier, who splits his time between eventing and showjumping.
